Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
The Veterinary Assistant supports patient care and the medical team at Ingleside Animal Hospital, helping provide compassionate care for animals and a smooth experience for clients. The role includes assisting veterinarians and technicians, supporting clinic workflow, helping with client scheduling, payments, and communications, and maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment. The position is based at a modern, spacious, AAHA-accredited hospital with paperless medical records and well-maintained diagnostic and treatment equipment. The hospital follows Fear Free and Feline Friendly principles and emphasizes defined clinical standards, teamwork, mentorship, and structured training. The assistant works alongside certified technicians, other assistants, customer service representatives, and kennel staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Confidence and skill handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills, including laboratory, pharmacy, nursing, and radiology.
Responsibilities
- Assist the medical team with hands-on patient care, treating animals with compassion and respect.
- Anticipate and support the needs of veterinarians and technicians to facilitate an efficient, collaborative workflow.
- Assist clients with scheduling, payments, and communications in a courteous and informative manner.
