About The Position

Heartland Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join its collaborative and compassionate team in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The clinic provides general veterinary care and encourages teamwork, learning, and professional growth. In this role, the Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians with appointments, procedures, surgery, and dentistry; prepares patients for exams and procedures; provides patient care; and helps maintain an efficient, organized clinic environment. The schedule is full-time and includes one evening shift until 8:00 p.m.

Requirements

Previous veterinary assistant experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
Comfort working with dogs and cats and providing safe, compassionate patient handling.
Experience with basic veterinary assisting skills, including restraint, medication administration, and patient care.
Dependable, organized, and able to stay focused in a busy environment.
Good communication skills with clients and coworkers.
Eager to learn and continue developing veterinary skills.
Able to work one evening shift until 8:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with appointments, procedures, surgery, and dentistry.
Prepare patients for exams and procedures and provide compassionate patient care.
Assist with restraint, treatments, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
Collect and prepare laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic procedures.
Care for hospitalized patients and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
Help maintain an efficient workflow and contribute to a positive team environment.
