About The Position
Maui Humane Society is an open-admissions animal shelter caring for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals. It provides veterinary and routine care, helps surrendered animals find new homes, and offers humane law enforcement, education and outreach, pet-retention programs, and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. The Veterinary Assistant / Tech conducts routine health examinations, assists veterinarians with surgical preparations, and provides medical support to animals receiving treatment at the shelter.
Requirements
- Experience in professional animal handling.
- Familiarity with animal diseases and behavior.
- Experience in veterinary medicine support.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with shelter databases; PetPoint is preferred.
- Experience with veterinary medicine databases.
- Fear Free Certification.
- Veterinary Technician Certification or licensing.
- Experience in veterinary medicine in a shelter or emergency room environment.
