About The Position

Oath Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role supports animals during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and their stay at the hospital. The position is scheduled Monday and Friday from 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Compensation is $18–$24 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications, with a sign-on bonus.

Oath Animal Hospital is a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in East Meadow that opened in May 2023. Its services include preventative and dental care, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and an in-house pharmacy. The hospital serves the greater East Meadow and Long Island areas and is led by Dr. Michael Funk, medical director, owner, and founder of Oath Veterinary Services.

Requirements

• Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
