About The Position
Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Partner, is hiring a full-time overnight Veterinary Assistant for its Woodstock, Maryland location. The practice specializes in orthopedic care, rehabilitation, and sports medicine, with a focus on client-centered veterinary care. Its team treats and helps prevent injuries, supports recovery, and enhances canine performance. The Veterinary Assistant provides nursing care in accordance with hospital standards and core values, assists with patient evaluations and examinations, and supports patient treatment and monitoring. The role also involves routine laboratory work, exercising patients, maintaining a clean hospital, and communicating with and educating clients. The posted pay range is $20.30–$28.50 per hour, plus applicable shift differentials. Pay depends on experience and advancement through a competency assessment tool. Eligible night and weekend hours receive shift differentials, subject to a four-hour minimum. Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Assist with patient evaluation and examination.
- Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
- Run routine laboratory work.
- Administer medications and treatments.
- Understand classifications and side effects of commonly used medications and appropriately monitor therapeutic responses.
- Exercise patients.
- Clean kennels and maintain the overall cleanliness of the hospital.
- Provide client education and communication.
