About The Position

Bay Ridge Animal Hospital/Annapolis Cat Practice is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to ensure animals receive excellent care. The role supports veterinary examinations, treatments, surgeries, and daily clinic operations while maintaining high standards of animal care and customer service.

The position is full-time, with four 10-hour shifts per week: two early shifts (8:00 AM–6:00 PM) and two late shifts (10:00 AM–8:00 PM), plus rotating Saturday mornings. Occasional shifts may run from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The stated pay range is $17.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Bay Ridge Animal Hospital provides veterinary care for dogs, while its nearby sister facility, Annapolis Cat Hospital, serves feline patients. The hospitals aim to deliver excellent medicine with loving care.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is required.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian's supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets' care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
