About The Position

El Paseo Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The position supports examinations, treatments, and surgeries; animal handling and routine care; basic laboratory work; clinic cleanliness; and communication with pet owners. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts varying between 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. The pay is $20–$21 per hour, based on experience and skill set. El Paseo Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary center serving the greater Coachella Valley. Its services include dentistry, surgery, tailored care for senior pets, and care for puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, pocket pets, and exotic animals.

Requirements

At least 2 years of veterinary assistant experience.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
