About The Position

Topaz Vet Clinic is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff, helping provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role supports animals throughout their stay at the clinic and includes assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; handling animals; preparing clinical and surgical areas; performing basic laboratory tasks; administering medications under veterinary supervision; maintaining records; communicating with pet owners; and keeping the clinic clean and stocked.

The position follows a four-day workweek consisting of four 10-hour shifts. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and there are no weekend hours. Pay is $19–$24 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications. Topaz Vet Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, four-doctor practice that describes itself as a smaller team focused on growth, learning, and compassion.

Requirements

• At least one year of veterinary experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe, sanitary environment.
