About The Position

Woodbury Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant who can also support reception responsibilities as needed. The role helps provide comprehensive veterinary care to patients, including restraint, triage, diagnostics, nursing care, medication administration, client communication, and assistance with surgical and anesthetic procedures. The position offers opportunities for virtual and hands-on training and continuing development.

Requirements

A minimum of 1 year of Veterinary Assistant experience is preferred.
Compassionate, calm, team-oriented, able to multitask, and a strong communicator.
Must be able to properly restrain pets.
Self-starter with a desire to continue advancing knowledge and skills.
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises and may be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

Restrain pets and triage incoming patients.
Collect and analyze laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic imaging.
Manage and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability.
Administer medications.
Communicate treatment plans effectively to clients.
Prepare for and assist with surgeries, and support anesthetic management.
Support reception responsibilities as needed.
