About The Position

Topaz Vet Clinic is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide animal care and customer service. The role includes assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; safely handling animals; preparing and maintaining clinical areas; performing basic laboratory tasks; administering medications and vaccinations under veterinary supervision; and communicating with pet owners. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, during clinic hours of 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with no weekend hours. The stated pay is $19–$24 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
