About The Position

Caring Hand Clarendon is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role includes assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; handling animals; preparing and maintaining clinical areas; performing basic laboratory tasks; administering medications and vaccinations under veterinary supervision; and communicating with pet owners. The position pays $20–$25 per hour, based on experience and skillset. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 8:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Caring Hands Animal Hospitals are large, well-equipped, AAHA-accredited facilities with convenient hours six days a week and an open-door policy. Their full-service hospitals provide computerized patient records, digital radiography, and in-house laboratory services.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
