About The Position

Caring Hand Arlington is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide animal care and customer service. The role assists with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; animal handling and basic laboratory work; medication administration under veterinary supervision; patient care; recordkeeping; and maintaining a clean, safe clinic. The position averages 32–40 hours per week. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM–8 PM, and Saturdays, 8 AM–4 PM. Salary is $20–$24 per hour, based on experience and skillset. Caring Hands Animal Hospitals are large, well-equipped, AAHA-accredited facilities that offer convenient hours six days a week and an open-door policy. Their full-service hospitals provide care including computerized patient records, digital radiography, and an in-house laboratory.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Enthusiasm, reliability, and interest in maintaining high standards of animal care and customer service.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
