About The Position

Frey Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. The hospital provides general medicine and advanced services in surgery and orthopedics, and is an AAHA-accredited practice with a collaborative, tenured team and modern facilities. It is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and has 7 doctors, 10 exam rooms, and equipment including ultrasound, endoscopy, laser therapy, and digital radiography. This is a full-time position on a 4/10 schedule. Availability is needed Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., and on rotating Saturdays, 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. On-call hours are shared among the team on a rotating basis. Compensation is $15–$18 per hour. A $500 bonus is available to candidates with at least 3 years of consecutive, current Veterinary Assistant experience.

Requirements

At least 2 years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting.
Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles.
Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members.
Availability Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., rotating Saturdays, 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., and rotating on-call hours.

Nice To Haves

Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs is preferred.
At least 3 years of consecutive, current Veterinary Assistant experience qualifies for a $500 bonus.
