Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Poulsbo Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support surgery, dental procedures, outpatient care, and client communication. The role involves working in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment while helping provide attentive care to patients and their owners. This is a full-time position with a four-day, 10-hour schedule and availability needed Monday through Friday; weekends are not required. Poulsbo Animal Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, three-doctor small animal practice in a modern facility with feline-friendly areas. The clinic handles urgent care cases and a variety of orthopedic surgeries, supported by in-house pharmacy, laboratory, surgery, and dental services. The team works collaboratively with clients and local businesses to support the community.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in client communication.
- Proficiency in patient restraint.
- Proficiency in setting up for surgery and dental procedures.
- Proficiency in administering subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient preparation and recovery during surgical and dental procedures.
- Maintain detailed medical records to support accurate patient care.
- Assist with outpatient care and patient handling, and prepare exam rooms and appointments.
- Communicate with clients during appointment check-in, review treatment plans, provide discharge instructions, and answer questions with empathy and clarity.
- Anticipate the needs of the team to maintain an efficient schedule and high standards of patient care.
