About The Position

Universal Pet Hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant/Technician or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for a full-time position on its fast-paced, compassionate team. The hospital provides wellness, surgical, and emergency care seven days a week and offers opportunities for professional growth. The role provides comprehensive patient and clinical support, including assisting with exams and surgery, delivering patient care, supporting diagnostics, communicating with clients, and maintaining clinic operations.

Requirements

• Compassionate, dedicated, and detail-oriented attitude.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and interact well with clients and their pets.
• Availability to work weekdays or weekends.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy.
• Strong experience in animal care, including animal handling and kennel management.
• Ability to stand for long periods, perform regular physical tasks, and safely lift 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous veterinary experience is preferred; the hospital is willing to train the right person.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and surgery.
• Perform basic medical procedures, such as placing IV catheters and collecting laboratory samples; administer medications, monitor patients, and manage feeding and handling.
• Process laboratory samples and perform or assist with digital radiography and ultrasound.
• Greet visitors, answer calls, schedule appointments, and educate pet owners about preventative care and treatment plans.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in kennels, examination rooms, and the laboratory.
• Ensure patient records are accurate.
