Pace Veterinary Clinic is hiring a Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist. This is a full-time position with a negotiable salary based on experience. The clinic offers four-day work weeks with no nights, weekends, or major holidays. Pace Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, two-doctor small animal clinic in Pace, Florida, with a varied caseload including dentistry, surgery, and urgent care. They are looking for a candidate who wants to utilize their skills, continue learning, and be part of a supportive and positive team. Requirements

  • Solid technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and in-house laboratory procedures
  • Proficiency with radiographs and basic imaging techniques
  • Safe, effective patient handling and restraint, with a focus on low-stress or Fear Free techniques
  • Clear, compassionate communication with clients and team members
  • Concise, accurate documentation of patient records and client interactions
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and gather thorough histories, vitals, and assessments
  • Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection
  • Take high-quality radiographs and maintain imaging standards
  • Run in-house lab work, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, and fecals
  • Support surgical and dental procedures, from patient prep through anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
  • Provide nursing and supportive care from intake through discharge, including TPRs, pain scoring, and wound care
  • Use low-stress and Fear Free handling techniques to keep patients safe and comfortable
  • Educate clients on patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care with compassion and clarity
  • Document patient care and treatments accurately in the medical record
  • Keep treatment and exam areas clean and stocked, and follow infection control protocols
  • Collaborate with the team to keep the workflow efficient and the hospital culture positive
