About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NYC is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team during the front-half of the week! This role involves triaging emergency cases, assisting veterinarians with estimates, performing diagnostics, setting up patients, discharging patients, and handling client communication. The ideal candidate will assist with nursing care, maintain cleanliness of ER and ICU areas, understand medication classifications and side effects, administer medications under guidance, perform radiography and lab work, conduct physical exams, and remain current on CPR guidelines.

Requirements

Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant
Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor

Responsibilities

Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT.
Perform radiography and lab work.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instruction.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
