About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NYC is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team! This role involves triaging emergency cases, assisting with estimates, performing diagnostics, patient setup, discharging patients, and client communication. You will also assist with nursing care, maintain cleanliness, understand medications and their side effects, administer medications, perform physical exams, and stay current on CPR guidelines.

Requirements

Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant
Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT.
Perform radiography and lab work.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instruction.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
