About The Position
East End Veterinary Center (EEVC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team in Riverhead, NY. EEVC is Suffolk County's only VECCS Level 2 24-hour Emergency/Critical Care and Specialty Veterinary Hospital. This certification recognizes EEVC as meeting the highest standards for emergency and critical care medicine. Requirements
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant is preferred; motivated candidates eager to learn are encouraged to apply.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency veterinary hospital.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Positive attitude with a compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of varying sizes.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with emergency patient care, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Safely restrain and handle patients during examinations and medical procedures.
- Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for examinations, surgery, and emergency procedures.
- Perform laboratory sample collection and assist with diagnostic testing.
- Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition to the medical team.
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
- Clean, organize, and stock treatment areas to ensure a safe and efficient hospital environment.
- Provide compassionate client support while delivering exceptional patient care.
- Collaborate with the emergency team to provide seamless, high-quality veterinary care in a fast-paced environment.
