About The Position
Germantown Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant / Client Service Representative. This is a cross-trained position in a busy small-animal practice that focuses on providing high-quality medicine and an exceptional client experience. The hospital is open Monday through Friday, offering a predictable schedule with no weekends. The role involves active involvement in patient care, strengthening clinical skills, and working with a supportive team.
Requirements
- 2+ years of veterinary hospital experience OR completion/current enrollment in a Veterinary Assistant program with applicable clinical training
- Genuinely enjoys veterinary medicine and wants to be an active part of the team
- Reliable, compassionate, and eager to learn
- Comfortable communicating with clients and coworkers
- Ready to take ownership of responsibilities
- Willing to jump in when teammates need support
- Comfortable asking questions or requesting help when needed
- Able to stay positive and focused when the day gets busy
- Interested in continuing to strengthen veterinary knowledge and hands-on skills
- Committed to treating clients, patients, and coworkers with empathy and respect
Nice To Haves
- Want to become stronger in radiology, dentistry, anesthesia, laboratory work, surgery, or patient care
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient histories and vitals and assist veterinarians during appointments
- Provide safe, compassionate patient handling and restraint
- Assist with blood draws, sample collection, laboratory testing, and radiographs
- Prepare patients and equipment for surgical and dental procedures
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and patient nursing care as training and skills allow
- Prepare medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Educate clients and help them understand their pet’s care, medications, and next steps
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Keep treatment and exam areas clean, stocked, and ready
- Support teammates and keep patient flow moving throughout the day
