About The Position

Highland Animal Hospital is seeking a hard-working, fun-spirited, and compassionate veterinarian to join their busy and community-rooted small animal practice in West Texas. The clinic is fast-paced, team-oriented, and dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and client service. This is a full-time associate position in a practice that currently has one doctor and a strong, experienced support staff. The clinic offers a highly skilled and supportive team of veterinary technicians capable of assisting with blood draws, radiographs, ultrasound, and more. The practice has a well-established, busy caseload with strong client relationships and a collaborative, team-focused work environment. The community is described as welcoming, with a small-town charm and slower pace, yet conveniently located within easy driving distance of larger towns and cities. The area has three strong school districts and a local junior college.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
