About The Position

The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is launching an innovative Veterinary Clinic in Renfrew County and is looking for a passionate Veterinarian to help lead it. This role is more than a traditional clinic position; it's an opportunity to help build a new model of accessible veterinary care for underserved rural communities while directly improving the lives of animals and the people who love them. Working from a mobile veterinary unit connected to the Renfrew County Animal Centre, the Veterinarian will play a key role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care while helping shape a progressive and purpose-driven program from the ground up. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in collaborative environments, enjoys meaningful community connection, and wants their work to create measurable impact.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
  • Licensed and in good standing with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, or eligible for licensing
  • Experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A strong commitment to animal welfare and accessible veterinary care

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in shelter medicine, community medicine, or high-volume spay/neuter
  • Interest in program development and innovation
  • Comfort working in a mobile or rural veterinary setting
  • A flexible, solutions-focused mindset

Responsibilities

  • Provide wellness exams, preventive care, vaccinations, and treatment plans
  • Perform routine spay/neuter surgeries and minor surgical procedures
  • Deliver compassionate euthanasia services
  • Support urgent care stabilization within the scope of the mobile clinic
  • Work closely with the RVT/Clinic Supervisor and Animal Centre team
  • Help develop workflows, protocols, and clinical standards for the program
  • Maintain accurate medical records and support compliance with CVO standards
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, mission-driven team culture
