Petco Veterinary Services is seeking relief veterinarians to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role offers flexible online scheduling, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement and weekday and weekend shifts available. Veterinarians can set their own rate for each shift, continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and pay no agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports leaving on time, while trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Petco also provides a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, plus a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. They do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Most are located in Petco stores, with some operating from mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Their equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Hospital relief shifts do not include overnight or emergency on-call work. New Jersey state bid rates average $136–$170 per hour; rates may vary by clinic location and shift duration. The role requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing, appropriate state-specific licensing for shift functions, professional liability insurance and a license defense policy, and compliance with applicable mandates. A DEA license in good standing is required for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals. Petco will provide the NC Supervising Veterinarian Agreement.
