About The Position

The Verification Analyst reports to the Team Manager, Verification and is responsible for the preparation, quality control, and program payment approvals for the AgriStability program. This role involves interpreting and evaluating applications/requests to verify information submitted by individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and cooperatives. The analyst will handle complex applications, such as those with combined operations, multiple non-calendar year ends, and specialized commodities or farming operations. A key responsibility is identifying problematic circumstances or administrative issues by thoroughly reviewing income and expense statements in conjunction with inventory, receivables, payables, and prepaid expenses to ensure accuracy and adherence to program tolerances. The role also requires contacting clients and/or their authorized representatives to obtain and exchange information, discuss and confirm program requirements, and conduct background research and investigations involving technical and financial reports to address complaints and resolve issues. The Verification Analyst will authorize payments as per AgriStability Program procedures (first signature) and review applications with second signature signing authority completed by Verifiers for compliance and reasonability, providing second signature authorization. Additionally, the role involves documenting and maintaining records of actions during the verification process, explaining program guidelines and procedures, and mentoring/assisting less experienced staff, farm clients, and accountants with complex applications. Quality assurance on producer AgriStability applications is also a part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma
  • Working knowledge of agriculture, farm tax and accounting practices
  • One-year directly related experience verifying AgriStability applications OR a Certificate in Agriculture or Business with six months directly related experience verifying AgriStability applications.
  • Pass a preliminary assessment exercise with a mark of 75% or higher.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional correspondence and/or responses to inquiries from internal and external customers; customer service oriented.
  • Analytical skills to accurately conduct audits and investigations on technical/financial reports and AgriStability applications, for validity, and come up with solutions based on findings.
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to multiple work flows.
  • Knowledge and experience with computer applications, including but not limited to databases, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience in farm risk management programs.
  • A criminal record check is required.
  • The successful candidate's account must be in good standing if they participate in the Crop Insurance or AgriStability Programs.
