Connecticut Innovations I Venture Capital Analyst Program (Durational)
About The Position
Connecticut Innovations (CI) is seeking individuals for its two-year, generalist Analyst Program, designed to prepare participants for a career in venture capital while contributing significantly to the team. The program includes intensive training and on-the-job experience, covering all aspects of the venture capital continuum, such as deal structure, financial analysis and modeling, due diligence, presentations, and client communications. Analysts will work across multiple equity funds and take on additional responsibilities based on their skill sets, with the potential for second-year Analysts to perform work equivalent to an Associate level. The Venture Team plays a crucial role in the investment due diligence process and post-investment portfolio company scaling. Analysts will research macro venture capital trends, conduct deep-dive industry analysis, participate in all investment phases, meet with management, perform company and industry research, create financial models, write investment recommendations, and support portfolio companies as board observers. Candidates should be self-starters, curious, flexible, and possess knowledge of financial statements, business plans, and other financial and legal documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance or the equivalent.
- Internship experience in market research, management consulting, venture capital or investment management.
- Knowledge of financial statements, business plans and other financial and legal documents.

Responsibilities
- Representing CI at industry events, source investment prospects, develop relationships with potential co-investors.
- Screening and analysis of potential investments.
- Conducting due diligence and competitive analysis.
- Financial modeling and valuation analysis, collaborating with and supporting other members of the CI Venture team.
- Preparing reports and proposals regarding potential investments and portfolio companies.
- Drafting term sheets.
- Reviewing legal documents related to financings and other matters.
- Presenting investments for approval to CI advisory committees and committees of the CI Board of Directors.
- Assisting in identifying strategic, marketing and partnering opportunities for portfolio companies.
- Participate in meetings and calls related to due diligence, industry research, and investment negotiations.
