About The Position
Halfords is hiring an experienced Vehicle Technician/Mechanic for its automotive service, maintenance and repair business. The role involves servicing vehicles, completing repairs and replacements, and carrying out more complex work such as clutch and timing-belt replacements. It also includes diagnosing issues involving vehicle electrics, brakes, steering, suspension and engines. The position is five days a week at a centre that is closed on Sundays. On-target earnings are up to £43,100, comprising a base salary of £34,000–£36,000 and an uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £7,100 per year. Halfords offers opportunities to progress, including access to hybrid training and ATA and MOT Tester qualifications. Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent, or time-served experience.
- Full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
- Experience as a technician or mechanic, including diagnostic work and complex vehicle repairs and replacements.
Responsibilities
- Service vehicles.
- Carry out vehicle repair and replacement work.
- Perform complex repairs and replacements, including clutches, timing belts, coolant or diesel injectors, head gaskets, brakes and electrical components.
- Diagnose vehicle faults involving brakes, steering and suspension, engines, and vehicle electrics.
