About The Position

A growing autonomous vehicle technology company is hiring Vehicle Operations Specialists in San Francisco. This role focuses on supporting the company’s autonomous vehicle development through manual data collection and real-world road testing. Day to day, you’d be manually driving company vehicles for up to 6 hours per shift while collecting driving data and working closely with engineers to identify, document, and troubleshoot system behaviors. The role requires strong defensive driving skills, high situational awareness, and comfort working with technology tools like Notion, Google Suite, and other internal software. It’s a good fit for someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, comfortable with driving for long periods of time, and highly interested in being part of the early development of AV technology.

Requirements

  • Previous professional driving experience, e.g. valet, rideshare, delivery, courier, transit, or autonomous vehicle operator
  • Must pass an MVR - Valid U.S. Driver’s License for at least 5 years with a pristine driving history (no major infractions in the last 5+ years)
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to navigate complex software interfaces and troubleshoot basic hardware/connectivity issues
  • High "situational awareness"—the ability to remain hyper-focused for long durations in a repetitive environment
  • Strong written English skills for technical reporting and clear verbal skills for real-time communications
  • Comfort with a rapidly changing environment; you might be testing a new software build every single day
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends)
  • Must pass a rigorous background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Monitor vehicle software systems while upholding safe operational protocols and full legal compliance.
  • Execute specific test cases (e.g., navigating construction zones, roundabouts, heavy pedestrian traffic, etc.) and document system performance accordingly.
  • Provide concise, high-quality verbal and written feedback on non-ideal vehicle behaviors and edge-case scenarios.
  • Perform pre-and-post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring sensors (LiDAR, Cameras, Radar) are clean and report major operational concerns accordingly.
  • Work directly with Software and Hardware Engineers to troubleshoot issues identified during your shift(s).

  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer Subsidized Healthcare Benefits
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • Employer covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
