About The Position

We’re looking for safety-focused, dependable professionals to join a growing autonomous vehicle operation. As an Autonomous Vehicle Operator (AVO), you’ll work directly with cutting-edge self-driving technology while helping provide passengers with a safe, comfortable, and professional experience. This is not a traditional driving job. The vehicle operates autonomously during normal operations. Your primary responsibility is to stay continuously alert, monitor the autonomous system and surrounding environment, follow strict safety procedures, document important events, assist passengers, and take manual control only when safety or specific operating situations require it.

Requirements

  • 25 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license held continuously for the past 3+ consecutive years with no gaps
  • Strong safety mindset and excellent situational awareness
  • Ability to remain focused and alert for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured procedures
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with technology, mobile devices, and digital reporting systems
  • Calm and dependable when unexpected situations arise
  • Coachable, adaptable, and comfortable learning new technology
  • Ability to routinely exert or lift 30–50 lbs. while assisting passengers and mobility equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Professional driving experience is helpful,but it is not required for every candidate. Strong customer service professionals with the right safety mindset, attention to detail, and comfort with technology are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor autonomous technology: Maintain constant situational awareness while observing the vehicle, surrounding environment, and autonomous driving system.
  • Put safety first: Follow all traffic laws, operating procedures, and safety requirements, including a strict no-phone/distraction policy while monitoring the vehicle.
  • Intervene when necessary: Be prepared to safely take manual control of the vehicle when required.
  • Support passengers: Create a welcoming, professional experience and assist riders throughout their trip.
  • Provide ADA assistance: Help passengers using wheelchairs and mobility equipment, including pushing wheelchairs up ramps and safely securing them inside the vehicle.
  • Inspect vehicles: Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and promptly report concerns.
  • Keep vehicles passenger-ready: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle environment.
  • Document events: Use mobile devices and digital tools to accurately record technical events, safety interventions, and daily operational summaries.
  • Help improve the experience: Provide feedback about vehicle performance, passenger comfort, vehicle condition, and the overall rider experience.
