About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Vehicle Inspection Station Compliance Officer (Inspector/Auditor) for its Pennsylvania Emissions Team, supporting a project with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The role maintains safety and emissions inspection station compliance by conducting station audits and observing and reporting on compliance with state and federal inspection regulations. The position covers a defined area in and around Central and Northern Allegheny County, with most work conducted on the road at vehicle repair stations. Some in-office work or work from home may be included. The selected candidate will receive training in the automotive field.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid, clean Pennsylvania driver’s license.
Ability to complete and maintain a Safety Inspection Mechanic Certification and Certified Emission Inspector Certification.
Strong computer background and ability to work effectively with office equipment.
Ability to perform assigned tasks independently.
Effective communication skills, including speaking with the public and accurately documenting station violations.
Ability to handle objects up to 50 pounds, frequently sit and stand, drive continuously for up to 90 minutes, and work in shop environments with hot or cold temperatures.

Nice To Haves

Previous auditing or investigative experience is helpful.
Automotive knowledge is not required; training is provided.

Responsibilities

Self-manage and complete a set number of station audits in the assigned geographic area.
Appoint and cancel stations from the program.
Serve suspensions on stations and technicians.
Respond to consumer complaints.
Testify in hearings.
Represent the Department of Transportation at safety and emissions inspection meetings.
Observe, document, and report station compliance with state and federal inspection regulations.
