This position involves performing skilled small engine, automotive, and/or heavy equipment repair. The work encompasses a wide range of progressively responsible tasks including the service, inspection, repair, rebuild, and diagnosis of diverse mechanical systems for various gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered engines and equipment. Responsibilities range from basic inspection and service to highly complex mechanical systems analysis utilizing advanced diagnostic instruments and software, conducting parts/systems failure analysis, and the calibration, adjustment, and operation of engine analyzers. Employees must routinely determine appropriate materials, techniques, and tools for assignments, which vary in complexity based on the mechanical system and ancillary components. This role also includes recurring and non-recurring tasks such as electrical, suspension, and brake system repair, as well as fitting and repairing complex specialized equipment. Consultation with a higher-level technician or supervisor may be required for extensive repair work.
