This is an extended posting for Vehicle/Repair Technician I (VERT I) positions in Division 1, with multiple positions to be filled. The role involves semi-skilled mechanic work, focusing on small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment repair. Responsibilities include a wide range of progressively responsible tasks such as service, inspection, repair, rebuild, and diagnosis of diverse mechanical systems for gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered engines/equipment. The work encompasses inspection and service, as well as moderately complex mechanical systems analysis using advanced diagnostic instruments and software, and conducting parts/systems failure analysis. Positions require routinely determining materials, techniques, and tools for assignments, which vary in complexity. Specific tasks include inspecting and replacing brake pads and shoes, replacing regulators, alternators, and belts, fitting or repairing standard aftermarket upgrades, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing tires, tubes, wheels & rims, cranking systems, lighting systems, cooling systems, and hydraulic systems. Employees may perform mechanic work at various levels.
