About The Position

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Vehicle Assembly Document Coordinator. The Vehicle Assembly Document Coordinator creates, maintains and owns accurate product line-wide vehicle assembly documentation (aka “Build Book” - our single source of truth for the assembly of the world’s greatest motorcycles). This documentation typically spans several model years, all international configurations, and requires managing change forward to future build books concurrently. The role is highly integrated with Vehicle Engineering, Data Management, and Global Advanced Manufacturing and requires daily collaboration and communication to ensure stakeholder needs are met. Motorcycle design, maintenance and assembly knowledge will be advantageous.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • 5 years of experience in industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (with experience using macros)
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience or demonstrated capability in mechanical design and product development
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross functional, team based environment
  • Strong problem solving and technical communication skills
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree preferred
  • General knowledge of motorcycles
  • Motorcycle Bill of Material (BOM) or equivalent vehicle experience
  • Understands the concepts of BOM structure, part attributes, and configurations.
  • Detail oriented with ability to work with multiple sources of information to create the Build Book (i.e. Color Chart, Options Matrix, Configuration Matrix, ECNs)
  • Windchill/PLM experience required to create Engineering Change Request (ECR)/ECNs
  • Ability to review engineering changes and understand how they impact the Build Book
  • Ability to manipulate Virtual Assembly for screenshots and assembly instruction (experience with CAD systems with large assemblies)
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Create new and revise existing build books (vehicle assembly excel documentation)
  • Create baseline and accumulate change notices to be added to build book.
  • Create Document Engineering Change Notice (ECN) to release Build Book (BBK) revision with ECN’s from baseline.
  • Add new part numbers for models and configurations with detailed content of fastener specifications (Torque, quantity, drive order), part quantities, color code and trim code per ECN markups
  • Add and name new tabs as required for new system
  • Run build book change tracker to collect relevant ECN attached to baseline.
  • Add content from build book change tracker report to Rev Data Tab and refresh Rev Sheet Tab for correct baseline
  • Ensure build book aligns to locked configuration matrix with 100% Accuracy
  • Review incoming Configuration Scope Changes (CSC’s) to inform Product Line Engineering (PLE) resources required and continuously update BBK to reflect changes post Configuration Matrix Lock
  • Create Part ECN for CSC’s and general updates.
  • Support 3-Way and 4-Way reviews with assembly plants to ensure alignment with standard work.
  • Understand how to navigate Blueprint
  • Understanding Vehicle Bill of Material structure
