About The Position

The Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing company-owned vehicles, trailers, and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT regulations. This position requires hands-on mechanical expertise to troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and complete necessary repairs, helping keep operations running efficiently.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance or completion of a technical school program in auto/diesel mechanics.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and hybrid drive systems.
  • ASE A/C Recovery Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in varying environments, and stand for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certification(s) in automotive or diesel repair.
  • Experience working with fleet vehicles or agricultural equipment.
  • Welding/fabrication experience.
  • CDL License or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions on various company vehicles and equipment.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble vehicles, trailers, and machinery as needed.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
  • Maintain and install electrical components, including lighting, trailer plugs, starting, and charging systems.
  • Perform tire changes, balancing, and minor welding/fabrication when required.
  • Conduct hydraulic system repairs and fabricate hydraulic hoses for vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform wheel alignments and repairs on power take-off (PTO) equipment.
  • Complete on-site repairs as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and repairs for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Communicate directly with management regarding completed work and required parts.
  • Acquire and maintain ASE A/C Recovery Certification as required by federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
