About The Position

Modesto Toyota is seeking a Vehicle Acquisition Associate to acquire additional dealership inventory by prospecting outside the dealership’s network. The role identifies and engages private vehicle sellers and involves frequent customer interaction in person and by phone. The associate primarily makes cold contact with people advertising vehicles for sale online, as well as walk-ins, and schedules appointments for potential sellers to bring their vehicles to the dealership for appraisal. The position is headquartered in Stanislaus County, California, and may require travel to other locations as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and sales license, or ability to acquire a sales license.
• Ability to set and achieve targeted goals.
• Extremely self-motivated.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate with mechanics, customers, and management.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and safely work with a team to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods without resting.
• Ability to perform routine kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Responsibilities

• Review vehicle condition reports.
• Determine wholesale and retail prices.
• Inspect and accept vehicles arriving onsite.
• Create and execute reconditioning plans to prepare vehicles for sale.
• Research vehicles, make offers, and close sales using sound judgment and interpersonal skills.
• Drive incremental business through a high level of customer engagement.
• Refer prospective vehicle procurement customers to the sales team for a sales opportunity.
• Work with management to identify current inventory needs.
• Prospect private parties selling vehicles, make cold contacts, and arrange appraisal appointments.
