About The Position

DO & CO is hiring a Vegetable Prep Helper in Des Plaines, Illinois. The role supports kitchen operations by preparing vegetables, maintaining a clean work area and equipment, following food safety and hygiene requirements, and helping keep the kitchen stocked while minimizing food waste. The employee will also contribute to smooth and friendly cooperation in the kitchen and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to perform the job’s essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to smell, pierce, and taste food to check doneness and quality.

Responsibilities

• Wash, chop, and dice vegetables using a knife or peeling machine, ensuring accurate and consistent cuts.
• Keep the immediate work area, equipment, and tools clean at all times.
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations in the food safety management system handbook.
• Report food safety management system problems to the manager and hygiene and food safety team.
• Smell, pierce, and taste food to check its doneness and quality.
• Help maintain smooth and friendly cooperation.
• Assist with inventory and keeping the kitchen well stocked; note low stock and inform the supervisor.
• Reduce food wastage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
