About The Position

UBMD Surgery has grown to be one of the largest and most respected non-profit surgical practices in Western New York. As a part of the UBMD Physicians’ Group, we take pride in teaching the next generation of surgeons how to be the doctors of the future, all while providing excellent patient care and outcomes. Our certified and fellowship-trained surgeons see and treat patients at various locations including Buffalo General Medical Center, Erie County Medical Center, John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and Buffalo VA Medical Center. We are seeking a FULL TIME Vascular Ultrasound Technologist to join our vascular lab team. Our technologists work closely with vascular surgeons in a collaborative, patient-focused environment performing a full range of non-invasive vascular studies. Schedule is weekdays with no late nights.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in ultrasound or radiologic technology with vascular training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and address problems, adhere to protocols, and maintain high standards of practice.
  • Candidates should have a solid understanding of vascular anatomy and ultrasound principles, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) preferred.
  • New graduates will be considered with a strong clinical background.
  • RVT credential must be obtained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform non-invasive vascular tests, including carotid, arterial, venous, and abdominal duplex testing, ankle-brachial Index testing, and hemodialysis access evaluations.
  • Assist with interventional procedures, including venous closure procedures and injections.
  • Drive the development of patient care, fostering lasting relationships through personalized and forward-thinking approaches.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment to ensure optimal conditions for vascular testing with precision and accuracy.
  • Provide clear and detailed instructions to patients regarding procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Prepare comprehensive test results and offer preliminary interpretations for physicians.
  • Maintain and stock examination rooms, creating a well-organized and efficient testing environment.
  • Make minor adjustments to and ensure the cleanliness and functionality of lab equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director to optimize test accuracy and adherence to protocols.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality as a top priority throughout the testing process.
  • Physically assist and guide patients during testing procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Participate in the education and training of student vascular technologists, covering equipment operation, patient care, diagnostics, and quality assurance.
