About The Position

Hartford Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their vascular surgery team. This inpatient role involves managing vascular surgery patients, including daily rounding, assessing new consultations, providing pre- and post-operative care, assisting in operative cases as needed, handling discharges, and collaborating with Vascular Surgery Attending Physicians and other medical providers. The role is open to Physician Assistants or Acute Care Nurse Practitioners and is a full-time, rotating position with no call schedule. Hartford HealthCare supports Advanced Practitioners through dedicated resources and advanced clinical technology.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • New graduates welcome to apply

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in vascular surgery setting

Responsibilities

  • Vascular surgery patient management and crisis intervention
  • Daily rounding
  • Assessment of new vascular consultations throughout the hospital
  • Pre- and post-operative care
  • Assisting on operative cases as needed
  • Discharges
  • Collaborating with the Vascular Surgery Attending Physicians and other medical providers
  • Perform routine physical examinations
  • Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols
  • Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician
