About The Position

The VAS Supervisor is responsible for managing staff assigned to the shift, including employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions. This role oversees all computer entry work and paperwork flow, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. The supervisor is also responsible for assigning work, monitoring quality and accuracy of shipments, communicating with customers, and ensuring the safety, training, and development of employees, drivers, and contractors in accordance with OSHA and RJW policies. They will also complete building checks, ensure adherence to AIB processes for food handling, and manage accident reporting procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in co-pack.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environment.
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access Database.
  • Minimum of an associates degree or 6+ years of supervisory/management experience (with references to validate all 6 years).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.
  • Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl.
  • Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
  • Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
  • Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
  • Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with labeling software (NiceLabel, Bartender) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assigning work assignments for all warehouse staffing, keeping in mind customer specifications.
  • Monitoring the quality and accuracy of all shipments according to customer specifications.
  • Ensuring that the department staff meets the requirements of each customer and that any requirement changes are updated and all staffing is trained on any changes to a customer.
  • Communicating with customers and responding to inquiries as needed, implementing any actions required.
  • Ensuring the safety, training and development of employees, drivers, and contractors, in accordance with OSHA and RJW policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing the completion of all computer data entry as required, checking for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assigning duties and examining work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining and approving of all shift employee timesheets for weekly payroll, including any temp hours, making corrections as needed.
  • Monitoring all overtime hours to meet department requirements.
  • Completing building checks daily notifying Co-Pack manager of equipment or building problems or preventive maintenance needed and assist with maintaining equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Ensuring that warehouse employees adhere to all AIB processes, procedures and guidelines, and that they have had the AIB training for handling any food products in the course of their employment.
  • Assuring that all checklists for building, equipment, and safety are completed as designate by the SOP or Policy.
  • Issuing any corrective action or work order need to correct or fix any issues.
  • Ensuring that proper procedures are taken with any and all accident reporting, handling the care of any injured employee, and making sure HR and management are notified of any emergency actions taken.
  • Performing assigned tasks or other duties as instructed by Co-Pack manager.
