About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with its Superintendent in moving the district toward its goals. The district represents 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Successful educators are passionately committed to urban education and all in for Syracuse students. They believe strongly that all students can learn at high levels, demonstrate commitment to serving urban students, schools or communities, and to closing the achievement gap. They demonstrate willingness to put the interests of students above all others, actively contribute to a culture of high expectations, and adapt seamlessly to the complexities of the urban school environment. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12. Our coaching staff consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with our student athletes. They are individuals who work very hard and care a great deal about the individuals for which they are responsible. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication to the value that hard work will produce rewards, with winning not being emphasized and large numbers on teams encouraged for maximum participation. The high school level (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams) strives for success, with an emphasis on the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Valid First Aid course accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
Valid Adult CPR certification accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements

Responsibilities

Coach student athletes in grades 7-12.
Develop skills and participation in athletic programs.
Prepare student athletes for higher levels of competition.
Stress the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
