About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with them in moving the district toward its goals. The district represents 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Successful educators are passionately committed to urban education and all in for Syracuse students. This position is for the JV Football Head Coach at Nottingham for the Fall 2026 season. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff that consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work, rather than winning. The high school level (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams) stresses the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship, with a focus on striving for success and efficient team and individual effort.

  • Valid First Aid course
  • Valid Adult CPR certification
  • Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
  • Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
  • Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
  • Fingerprint Clearance
  • School District Recommendation
  • Pass a fingerprint-based background check

Responsibilities

  • Coach JV Football team for Nottingham during the Fall 2026 season.
  • Develop and implement training programs focused on skill refinement, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Prepare student athletes for higher levels of competition.
  • Foster a positive team environment that emphasizes academics, goal setting, and discipline.
  • Ensure student athletes understand and adhere to the values of hard work and dedication.
