About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with them in achieving their goals of improving student achievement. This position is for a JV Basketball Head Coach for the STEAM program, starting in Fall 2026. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program for grades 7-8 emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work, rather than winning. The high school level (freshman, JV, and Varsity) focuses on a higher refinement of skill, competition, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Requirements

• New York State Coaching Certification
• Valid First Aid course
• Valid Adult CPR certification
• Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
• Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
• Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
• Fingerprint Clearance
• School District Recommendation
• Pass a fingerprint-based background check
