About The Position

NET Trans is seeking Van Drivers in your community for a Full-Time position. The role involves transporting clients to appointments and for shopping. A company van will be provided and can be parked at the employee's residence, eliminating the commute to work. This position offers excellent full-time benefits, including 14 paid holidays, 12 days of paid-time-off, and a TN state retirement pension. The Washington county new hire will work an early morning shift, starting at 6 am Monday through Friday, from 6 am to 3 pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Sundays are guaranteed off. The next hiring class begins on September 21, 2026.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Class D with Endorsement F driver’s license (minimum required).
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug and alcohol test and will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing as required by the FTA/TDOT and other contracts.
  • Must pass a DOT Physical.
  • Must submit a 10 year pre-hire DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) check.
  • Must submit to a DMV report on an annual basis.
  • Must pass a pre-hire functional ability screening.
  • Must submit to a pre-hire criminal background check.
  • Must be over 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a public transportation system preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Obeying all traffic laws and regulations (Agency, State, and Federal) during operation of Agency van.
  • Following all safety precautions, including defensive driving safety techniques.
  • Ensuring the safety of all passengers.
  • Utilizing correct passenger assistance techniques during operation of van.
  • Providing assistance to all clients while entering or exiting van.
  • Providing passenger assistance to clients with mobility impairment.
  • Following correct procedures for transporting clients in wheelchairs, scooters, or similar.
  • Accurately following instructions from central office.
  • Using correct FCC/TDOT radio/communication procedures.
  • Advising clients to communicate all schedule changes to the central office.
  • Providing service in accordance with Title VI of the Federal Code.
  • Following all Agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate daily schedules, mileage and time records.
  • Turning in paperwork and revenue in a timely manner.
  • Performing a daily pre-trip van inspection and reporting any van problems to the maintenance staff.
  • Keeping van clean, both inside and out.
  • Presenting a clean and well-groomed appearance.
  • Conducting oneself in a professional manner.
  • Treating clients with dignity and respect.
  • Using concepts of client sensitivity training when dealing with passengers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of client information and records.
  • Transporting clients from other routes and counties.
  • Behaving as a member of a team.
  • Assisting other drivers when needed by the central office.
  • Collecting general public fares and following proper money handling procedures.
  • Abiding by Agency rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Agency handbook.
  • Performing other duties as assigned from appropriate management personnel.
  • Maintaining regular attendance and timeliness.
