About The Position

NET Trans is seeking Van Drivers in your community to transport clients to appointments and for shopping. This is a full-time position with a van parked in the employee's driveway to eliminate commute time. The role involves making a difference in clients' lives by providing safe and reliable transportation. The position is safety-sensitive and requires adherence to all applicable regulations and agency policies.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Class D with Endorsement F driver’s license (minimum required).
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug and alcohol test and will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing as required by the FTA/TDOT and other contracts.
  • Must pass a DOT Physical.
  • Must submit a 10 year pre-hire DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) check. Must submit to a DMV report on an annual basis.
  • Must pass a pre-hire functional ability screening.
  • Must submit to a pre-hire criminal background check.
  • Must be over 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a public transportation system preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting clients to and from various destinations under the Regional Public Transportation program.
  • Operating agency-provided vehicles, including wheelchair lift-equipped vans, using defensive driving techniques in a timely and safe manner.
  • Following all applicable Agency, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Attending driver trainings as required.
  • Providing client assistance on and off the van, including assistance for clients with mobility impairments.
  • Obeying all traffic laws and regulations (Agency, State, and Federal) and following all safety precautions.
  • Utilizing correct passenger assistance techniques, including procedures for transporting clients in wheelchairs or scooters.
  • Following instructions from the central office, using correct radio/communication procedures, and advising clients on schedule changes.
  • Providing service in accordance with Title VI of the Federal Code and following all Agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate daily schedules, mileage, and time records, and turning in paperwork and revenue in a timely manner.
  • Performing daily pre-trip van inspections and reporting any van problems to maintenance staff.
  • Keeping the van clean, both inside and out.
  • Presenting a clean and well-groomed appearance and conducting oneself in a professional manner.
  • Treating clients with dignity and respect, using concepts of client sensitivity training, and maintaining confidentiality of client information.
  • Transporting clients from other routes and counties, behaving as a member of a team, and assisting other drivers when needed.
  • Collecting general public fares and following proper money handling procedures.
  • Abiding by Agency rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and the Agency handbook.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by appropriate management personnel.
  • Ensuring regular attendance and timeliness, which is an essential function of this position.
