About The Position

The Wayne County Transportation Department is seeking dependable, compassionate drivers to provide essential door-to-door transportation for county residents. This role helps seniors and other community members get to important appointments, services, and daily activities while providing friendly, reliable support. Applicants must have strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to use electronic tablets and other technology.

Requirements

One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.
Meet the PA residency requirement.
Able to perform essential job functions.
Pass a background investigation.
Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

Provide safe, reliable, and courteous transportation for senior adults and wheelchair-dependent individuals
Operate a County vehicle for long-distance daily travel while maintaining a focus on consumer comfort
Assist consumers with boarding, exiting, and navigating uneven or unpaved paths with dignity
Communicate effectively with consumers, dispatch, and agency staff through direct interaction and radio use
Utilize electronic tablets and other approved tools to access schedules and document services
