About The Position

The Wayne County Transportation Department is looking for a dependable, compassionate driver to provide essential door-to-door transportation for county residents. This role helps seniors and other community members get to important appointments, services, and daily activities while providing friendly, reliable support. The ideal candidate enjoys helping others, working independently, and being a trusted part of the community. Applicants must have strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to use electronic tablets and other technology.

Requirements

• One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.
• Meet the PA residency requirement.
• Able to perform essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation.
• Pass a medical examination and drug screening (conditional offer of employment).
• Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance (conditional offer of employment).
• Strong communication skills.
• Reliability.
• Ability to use electronic tablets and other technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, reliable travel for senior adults and wheelchair-dependent individuals in accordance with policies.
• Help riders board, exit, and move across uneven pathways while maintaining safety, dignity, and comfort.
• Maintain clear interaction with consumers, dispatch, and agency staff through conversation and radio communication.
• Use tablets and approved tools to access schedules, record transportation activities, and complete required program documentation.
• Demonstrate patience, strong communication, and professionalism while working independently.
