About The Position

The Van Driver operates a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and Christmas-season kettle or Angel Tree sites. The role also involves picking up and delivering donated items and other supplies. The driver is responsible for safe, timely transportation, proper vehicle use, and maintaining control of passenger activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience operating an automotive vehicle, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Salvation Army vehicle during the Christmas season to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities or sites.
• Pick up and deliver miscellaneous items and donated goods as needed.
• Drive carefully and comply with traffic signs and road and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety.
• Park in a safe, clearly marked parking space and lock the vehicle when it is not in use.
• Fuel the vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and Salvation Army standards.
• Record all mileage on standard forms and ensure the records are accurate and complete.
• Arrive according to schedule or telephone ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintain control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.
