About The Position

Benchmark is seeking a compassionate Van Driver to provide transportation for community residents in Shelton, Connecticut. The position assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities that require van transportation. The driver also monitors residents during outings and helps ensure their safety. An F endorsement is required. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

• F endorsement is required.
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Demonstrated interest in the elderly and knowledge of serving their needs.
• Demonstrated activities or recreational experience.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles in accordance with warranty requirements and/or the internal maintenance plan to ensure they are safe and in working order.
• Act as an Activity Assistant during excursions and stay with the group except when parking the van.
• Transport residents to and from medical appointments, outings, and shopping trips.
• Monitor resident activity and alert staff when assistance is needed to assure resident safety.
