About The Position

The Van Driver / Activities Assistant ensures safe, comfortable transportation for residents to appointments, outings, and community events. When transportation is not needed, the assistant works with the Engagement Director to support fun, meaningful activities that promote residents’ physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being. The role contributes to a lively community by building positive connections with residents and helping create enjoyable experiences.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to operate a passenger van safely and responsibly.
Enjoy connecting with seniors and get along naturally with them.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with seniors.
Respectful and patient attitude toward residents.
Physical ability to help residents board and exit the van.
Criminal background screening is required.
Must show valid proof of full COVID-19 vaccination before commencing work or commit to obtaining full vaccination within 30 days of commencing work, unless an approved exemption is received.

Responsibilities

Safely transport residents to and from appointments, outings, and community events.
Ensure passengers’ comfort and well-being during transit.
Help residents board and exit the van safely.
Maintain the van’s cleanliness and safety, including conducting routine inspections.
Assist with community programs and activities as needed.
Get to know residents’ preferences and needs to help make activities enjoyable and meaningful.
Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and community members.
Promptly report issues or incidents.
Maintain a friendly and helpful demeanor to create a positive experience for residents.
