About The Position

This role is responsible for safely transporting clients and employees to designated locations, including medical appointments. The Van/Bus Driver will operate vans, buses, or other vehicles, plan routes considering traffic and weather, and maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of assigned vehicles. Responsibilities include enforcing regulations on smoking, eating, and drinking, maintaining accurate logs of mileage and usage, and ensuring a safe and courteous driving experience for all passengers. The position also involves interacting professionally with clients and staff, communicating effectively, and performing other duties within the transportation department as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • At least one year of driving experience.
  • Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and good upper body strength to transport, move or assist clients with disabilities.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, squat, and push wheelchairs without restriction.
  • Ability to be licensed and or certified as needed.
  • Physical stamina and strong mobility to clean vehicle as needed and assist all passengers as needed.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 80% of the time with approximately 20% of time spent assisting passengers on and off the vehicles.
  • Full time will require 30+ hours worked each week.

Responsibilities

  • Drive safely along designated routes, obeying all traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations.
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations and medical appointments.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities into and out of the van or bus.
  • Follow all appropriate timetables and standard of conduct guidelines.
  • Operate vans, buses, or other vehicles for client and employee transportation.
  • Research and plan for traffic, weather, and construction.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles in accordance with maintenance procedures and submit maintenance slips.
  • Maintain the appearance of the vehicle, inside and out, including vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning windows.
  • Use car or truck wash as assigned by the manager.
  • Enforce regulations of no smoking, eating, or drinking.
  • Ensure the logbook in the vehicle is maintained with all mileage, purpose of trips, and gas/oil usage.
  • Drive in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Be courteous to other drivers, passengers, and aids being transported.
  • Maintain certification and/or licensure as needed.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Occasionally move about inside an office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Notify the Transportation Manager immediately of any accidents or citations.
  • Interact and converse professionally with dignity, respect, and proper courtesy.
  • Communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Exchange accurate information with the transportation coordinator or staff regarding client behavior.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required within the transportation department.
