About The Position

AMD is seeking a technical leader to join its datacenter CPU and AI post-silicon validation team. The role focuses on system validation and debug of AI GPU systems, with expertise in high-speed I/O areas such as PCI Express, CXL, or RAS. As a contributor to AMD’s product quality, the engineer will help deliver industry-leading technologies and collaborate with the Systems Design Engineering and validation team, which promotes technical innovation and career development.

The position develops and executes feature-enablement and validation plans for SoC- and system-level features across AMD Server and AI products. It also applies AI/ML technologies to improve post-silicon validation, debug, test automation, analytics, failure triage, log analysis, and root-cause identification. The engineer develops test content and validation infrastructure, debugs platform issues, and works with partner organizations on root-cause analysis. The role is based in Austin, Texas, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• BSEE/CSE/CS degree and at least 5 years of experience, or an MSEE/CSE/CS degree and at least 3 years of experience.
• Experience developing validation test plans, executing them, and debugging at the SoC or platform level.
• Experience participating in silicon bring-up and debug and supporting internal engineering teams.
• Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as C/C++, Python, or Perl.
• Extensive board- or platform-level debug experience, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization.
• Experience taking captures using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and JTAG-based debug tools.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple workstreams and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong networking and relationship-building skills, including the ability to drive decisions across functions and organizational levels.

Nice To Haves

• Expertise in I/O interfaces such as PCIe, CXL, and RAS, and power management, for system-level test-plan execution.
• Strong understanding of server platform components and x86 or other complex CPU architectures.
• Proficiency with Linux and/or Microsoft operating systems.
• Knowledge of pre-silicon environments such as verification, emulation, or virtual bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute feature-enablement and validation test plans for SoC- and system-level features across AMD Server and AI products.
• Use AI/ML technologies to improve post-silicon validation, debug, and test-automation efficiency, including AI-assisted workflows, data analytics, failure triage, log analysis, and root-cause identification.
• Develop focused and system-level stress tests for I/O domains, including cross-product stress testing.
• Validate, regress, execute, and debug networking, IFoE, IB, UAL, scale-up, scale-out, or related domains.
• Develop post-silicon validation infrastructure, including software, hardware, automation environments, and lab setups.
• Collaborate with partner organizations to perform root-cause analysis of platform issues in data-center environments, including platform-level, SoC logical, performance, and BIOS/firmware issues.
